Good Night for Dancing

I am excited to introduce you to Remmy, our very first 2011 Senior.  A rainstorm arrived right in the middle of our photoshoot, and you know what he did?  He danced in the rain!

Remmy enjoys playing baseball, soccer and tennis.  He is involved in Young Life, and is proud to be the reigning Young Life Ping Pong Champion!  Remmy loves country dancing, the faster and the more spins, the better!

Remmy will graduate in June and was excited to tell us he will be attending Tarleton State University next fall.  He has a variety of interests, and accordingly, has not yet landed on a major.

The few hours spent in this young man's presence went by way too fast, interrupted by rain, and finally ended only by the setting sun.  He infused our session with lots of laughter, which is a gift I personally value greatly, and was so warm and friendly as we worked that it didn't really feel like work at all.  He has a powerful personality and I'm sure you can tell that it takes a lot more than a little rain to slow him down!
Remmy, it was a joy to work with you!  Congratulations on your upcoming graduation and wishing you all the best as you begin your career as a Tarleton Texan!

Kelly and Courtney . . . From This Moment

Please meet Mr. and Mrs. Courtney Johnson, two beautiful people, inside and out! We were so blessed to capture their wedding in June. I love the photo above because the two individual shots were snapped prior to the ceremony, within a few minutes of each other, and these two didn't stop smiling all day long!
The wedding was full of spectacularly touching moments, which include the groom's sister singing "From This Moment" during the lighting of the unity candle, and the fact that the ceremony was performed by Courtney's brother-in-law. Another spectacular moment was the groomsmen entering the church to the sounds of the Sooner Fight Song, and they were all wearing eye black! Did I mention that Courtney is a coach? These two sweethearts met at OU, and he proposed to her inthe same location where they met. Sometimes the return down the aisle shots are difficult to capture and while this one is almost too close, I love it because it captures their elation at that moment.

Courtney is a veteran of the United States Army and served our country in Iraq. They are both graduates of OU and are now both teaching and Courtney is also coaching.

The day was all about family. Kelly's beautiful twin sister, served as her Matron of Honor, and except for Hagen who is still too young to walk the aisle, they were surrounded by their precious nieces and nephews, Catherine, Justin, Ashleigh and Jack.

This special day was just full of precious moments and smiles, from pre-ceremony, to a quick hallway snuggle just seconds after the ceremony, all the way through the reception, which included lots of good music, good food, lively dancing and beautifully decorated, as I understand, mostly by the mother of the bride. It was a Five Star Party!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Johnson! Thank you so much for allowing us to capture your wedding memories. Sending lots of love to you both!

Samantha - She's Got a Way About Her

This is Samantha, isn't she gorgeous? While searching for a song title, Billy Joel's hit from 1982, "She's got a way" popped up. It's true, she's got a way. She's one of the "middle girls" in a family of four girls and she's got that sweet roll with the flow kind of personality.

I got curious and looked up the lyrics from that song, "she's got a light around her and everywhere shes goes a million dreams of love surround her" isn't that beautiful? And it's so "Sam"! While doing my research I read that Billy Joel first recorded that song in 1971 and didn't really love it, he thought it was too "cornball", but it was re-released in 1982 and became a hit! Okay, that's enough Pop Music Trivia . . . back to Sam!
She is also a musician and plays the bass guitar in the worship band at her church.

Earlier this spring she served as Maid of Honor when her older sister got married, and she was also gifted with this awesome blue Mini! She loves her Mini and later in the summer is going on a Road Trip in her Mini with her sister, her new brother-in-law and his sister to Denver.

One of Sam's passions in her school life is cheerleading. She has been a cheerleader most years during her junior high and high school career. She and I share another passion and that is photography. She told me she loves everything about photography.

She will attend A & M this fall and plans to major in Landscape Architecture.
She told me that one day she hopes to create entire gardens. Doesn't that sound
like a fun career?
Look at her face . . . "she's got a light around her, and everywhere she goes a million dreams of love surround her".
Samantha, congratulations on your graduation! I hope your college life is full of dreams come true!

Jared - It's My Life

Meet Jared, a soon to be graduate. While combing through song titles looking for something that would suit him, "It's My Life" jumped out at me. What do y'all think, does it fit? Truth is I know so little about this young man that I had to do some sleuthing to get facts for this blog post. Jared, I will NOT reveal my sources, so forget about it!

Those of you that know Jared will probably laugh when you read that my first impression of Jared was that he was very quiet. From what I have gathered, this is not at all accurate! I suppose that means he is only quiet around "lady photographers" that he doesn't know very well!

He is described by others as, and I quote "random", "crazy", a "good gamer", "car freak", "sarcastic", and my personal favorite, "secretly sweet". I understand there are a hand full of people in this world for whom he has a soft spot. If you look very close, I believe you can see a little bit of mischief in his eyes! As a photographer looking through the lens, I decided that his amazing eyes are, in my book, his strongest feature.
According to my sources, he loves cars, fishing, guns, video games, his dog and all things outdoors including water skiing and snow boarding, and riding his 4 wheeler.

I was told he plans to attend Blinn in the fall of 2010 and take his time to decide what his next step will be.
At this moment he is interested in the Military, and I know of at least one family member (she knows who she is -- lol) who is hoping some other path will capture his attention.
Thank you, Jared, for being such an interesting and cooperative subject, and I wish all the best for you in life!

Cara - Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

I'm happy for you to meet Cara, another one of my amazing Senior Reps for 2010. I have known Cara since she was in grade school, and I consider it a tremendous honor to be taking her Senior Portraits. She's the girl that brings the sunshine to every gathering!

She has a smile for everyone, is one of the sweetest girls I know, and I've watched her, in a crowd of teenagers, reach out to those standing back on the sidelines and bring them right into the circle of fun activity.

She has a great smile, is very enthusiastic, both of which come in handy as a Varsity Cheerleader. She has also been the setter for the FA Volleyball Team which made it to the Final Four in State this past fall.
I know the softball team is so pleased she's playing again this season!
During the shoot, she shared with us that she has a deep love for children, and plans to pursue an education that will lead to a career in the pre-school field. I would love knowing that someone as sweet and loving as Cara is heping my pre-schoooler through their first school experience.
She has also been involved in the High School Destination Imagination Team all through high school, including the year they TOOK THE GLOBAL TITLE for D.I.!
As I write this, they are preparing for the 2010 State D.I. Competition.
Cara, good luck at State, and Congratulations on your Graduation!

Megan and Shelby - Heart and Soul

While trying to think of a song title to put with these gorgeous sister shots, the old Huey Lewis hit, "She's Heart and Soul" popped into my head. Let's make that plural. Both girls definitely have "Heart and Soul".
We had planned a "Sister Shoot", but their mom, Stacey, told me she needed a few shots for a new business card (she's just about to get her real estate license!) and I talked her into jumping into a few poses along with her daughters. Now you totally see where these girls get their beauty from!

Megan is working very hard to finish cosmetology school, and hopes to be licensed by late summer.
We ended up taking a few extra of Shelby so she would have some new portraits, since I had taken Megan's Senior Portraits just last year. Shelby seems a little shy, but the camera LOVES her!
We had so much fun with these three ladies. We laughed a LOT, and there were so many fun moments to choose from, it was really hard to make my choices for this post. Much of the laughter was caused by "strange men" honking their horns and waving/yelling/whistling as they drove their trucks down the street where we were shooting! Can you blame them?
Ladies, I LOVED working with you. Let's do it again some time! Wishing you all the best in your new adventures!

Darcy Turned 2!!!

You probably remember this beautiful angel from previous posts.

On this photoshoot in February, we were celebrating her 2nd Birthday.
I have been snapping photos of Darcy since before she could walk, and every photoshoot is a new adventure for me. It's fun to watch her enter new stages, and I'm so blessed to be trusted with recording those stages.

She likes her country music!! Her mom played some tunes from her phone while we were shooting, and Darcy came to life, dancing and singing along! She's such a little honey. I know her parents stay constantly entertained by her enthusiastic approach to life!

In this image, her sweet little face makes a perfect heart shape, doesn't it?

Happy Birthday, Darcy!

Chelsea - Shine!

I'm pleased to introduce you to Chelsea, a 2010 graduate. When trying to think of a way to describe her to you, the word "shine" comes to mind. She just shines! Look at her smile. She's a girl you just really want to be your friend.

I have had the opportunity to spend a little bit of time around Chelsea because I'm a fan of the volleyball team she played on. She totally shines on the volleyball court, evidenced by the fact she was named to the First Team for the TAPPS All State Volleyball Team after taking her team to the State Final Four Tournament this past fall. She's a very sweet person, but very intense on the volleyball court.

I don't believe she has made a final decision on her educational path once she graduates in May, but I know she's very interested in the beauty/fashion industry. After seeing her wardrobe choices and watching her pose for my shots, I would definitely go to this girl for fashion advice!

Chelsea, we really enjoyed this photoshoot! You can even make work seem like fun!

Congratulations, Chelsea!

The best is yet to come!
